GreenwaysProject title: Sustainable tourism at Greenways Beneficiary: Partnership for the environment foundation City: Kraków Voivodeship: małopolskie Implementation period: August 2009- December 2010 Focus area: Pro-ecological restructuring of the tourist market The Project leads to spreading the best examples of environment and landscape friendly tourism (bicycle, foot, water, horse tourism) implemented basing on experience and concept of Greenways, including increasing the number of persons using the pro-ecological tourism offer in Poland. Greenways are pathways of environmental and cultural heritage leading along rivers, historical trade routes, natural environmental corridors and railways. Greenways create frameworks for implementation of local social initiatives and projects connected with protection of environment and landscape, keeping the cultural heritage, eco-friendly tourism and sustainable transport. Greenways respond to the need of the inhabitants and tourists, and give positive input to reviving local economy. ![]() Thanks to Greenways eco-friendly tourism and sustainable development connect with environment and cultural heritage protection. The initiative is to create a fashion for eco-tourism among users and administrators of the tourism base, and with that to develop sustainable development offer in Poland.

There are also plans for popularising the ecological offer of the Greenways through prepration and provision of „Greenways Passports” – eco-tourism badge, „Calendar of Greenways Events in Poland” and a guide entitled „Treasure Hunting on the Greenways” showing unmarked trails – quests. There are also touristic maps of two green ways and a guide of the Amber Greenways Trail.. More information at the project website.
